The storms have passed, and the calm is here. But the devastation is just being realized. Some of the worst storms to ever hit this area went through last night. The fatality reports will be coming in all day. It was scary in the midst of the storm. But God was with us, protecting us and keeping us all safe. We took shelter in the basement. Our 5 children, and one of their friends and of course the dog and both of the cats, all spent the night sleeping on their mattresses on the floor of our daughter's basement bedroom. We stayed down there through about 5 different tornado warnings, but finally went up to our own beds just before midnight. There was plenty of wind, rain and some LARGE hail, at least golf ball sized that fell at our house. We have no damage and we can't see any in our area, but there have been 15 reported deaths so far in our surrounding communities.
I managed to stay calm through it all. I know that praying and knitting had a lot to do with that! I almost finished knitting a bunny for one of my grand-daughters all that is left is it's tail and face!
I never did get those cookies all baked, so I guess that will be one of the things that is on my to-do list for today. That and grocery shopping are my main things to accomplish today. I think tonight I will use up some of my leftover ham and make scallopped potatoes and ham.
Schools are closed and the kids are happy! So now it is time to clean up get the beds put back together and Thank our LORD for His protection and grace!
